Program Limitations and Expectations

In order to maintain the highest degree of safety, integrity, and respect within our community, Wagner Hills has established clear guidelines and admission criteria. Please read the following carefully. Violation of any of the rules or failure to meet eligibility requirements may result in immediate discharge and/or denial of admission. We reserve the right to refuse entry to individuals unable or unwilling to adhere to the program’s guidelines.

Abstinence-Based Program
Wagner Hills is a strictly abstinence-based recovery program. The use or possession of the following substances is NOT permitted:

  • Drugs or alcohol

  • Nicotine or tobacco products (including cigarettes, chew, vapes, nicotine patches or gum)

  • Cannabis products (including THC/CBD oils, edibles, and paraphernalia)

  • Non-alcoholic beer, wine, or seltzers

  • Any related paraphernalia (e.g., lighters, rolling papers, vapes)

Mental Health Conditions
We are NOT equipped to accommodate individuals with serious and persistent psychiatric disorders that require specialized mental health care. These include:

  • Schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder

  • Bipolar disorder with psychotic features

  • Active psychosis or untreated psychotic disorders

  • Severe cognitive impairments or developmental disabilities

  • Recent suicide attempts or current suicidal ideation requiring psychiatric stabilization

  • Clients currently on injectable antipsychotic medications

Medical and Medication-Related Restrictions

  • Clients must be medically stable prior to admission

  • This is not a medical detox facility—detox must be completed before entry

  • Individuals requiring IV medications or complex medical care cannot be accommodated

  • Clients using daily narcotic pain medications or benzodiazepines are not eligible

  • We cannot accept individuals currently undergoing Opioid Agonist Therapy (e.g., Methadone, Suboxone, Sublocade, Kadian, or iOAT)

Physical and Emotional Participation
Applicants must be able to participate in all aspects of the program, including:

  • Counselling sessions

  • Personal Service Plans

  • Group sharing

  • Chapel services

  • Physical tasks or work therapy as part of the daily routine

  • Participants should be mentally and emotionally ready to engage in personal growth and committed to a lifestyle of recovery.

Behavioral and Safety Expectations

  • Threats or acts of violence against fellow residents or staff will result in immediate discharge

  • Sexually inappropriate behavior is strictly prohibited

  • Any form of intimidation, harassment, or aggression will not be tolerated

Legal Considerations

  • Applicants must disclose any current or past criminal charges

  • We cannot accept individuals with any history of sexual offences, including but not limited to:

    • Sexual assault

    • Sexual harassment

    • Offences involving minors or adults

    • Possession or distribution of child pornography

  • Other violent criminal history may also affect eligibility for the program

  • Certain bail, probation, or parole conditions may require prior approval before admission

Communication Requirements
If you are being assisted with your application and do not yet have a personal email address, please ask for help in creating one. A personal email is required for application processing and will serve as your unique identifier in our system.
