Our Program

Steps FILLED WITH HOPE AND HEALING.

A year of transformation

At Wagner Hills, we have developed a program that follows a quarterly rhythm. Each quarter has a different focus and we work with each resident to set goals and experience growth throughout the year. Our incredible staff and counsellors are here to help you see healing and transformation in your life. At any given time, different residents will be setting and achieving goals in different quarters. Part of the benefit of community living is that residents are all at different points in their journeys and we help each other along the way.

FAQ’s

How long is the program?

The program is designed to be a one year commitment to living and working at The Farm at Wagner Hills.

How much does the program cost?

It costs over $100/day for us to run the program for a resident. We work with each individual and donors, families and social services to make a financial plan. We can have this conversation after we receive a full application.

Can I take medication at Wagner Hills?

We do allow prescribed medications while in the program provided they are not addictive. Because Wagner Hills isn’t a medical facility, it is our policy to disallow anything that could cause harm to oneself or to others if it were to be abused. As such we do not allow addictive medications even if prescribed by a doctor. These include medications such as: narcotics, benzodiazepines, methadone and suboxone.

Can I visit my family while I'm in the program?

Family and community are so important to recovery. In the first month of our program, residents do not leave The Farm, but family members are welcome to come and visit. After the first month, residents can request time offsite through the same system used to book offsite appointments.

Can I come if I’m on bail/probation/parole?

We can accept most people, even if they have dealt with legal issues in the past. We request that applicants send us a copy of their conditions so that we can best determine if their situation will align with our program. We are unable to accept applicants who are on the national sexual offenders registry or the violent offenders registry because it falls outside our insurance coverage. Regardless of their conditions, we do withhold the right to ask anyone to leave if they are unable to adhere to our rules and guidelines.

What items are banned?

  • Drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Cigarettes/Pipes/Cigars/E-cigs/Vaporizers

Can I smoke at Wagner Hills?

No. Wagner Hills is a completely smoke-free and addictive substance free program. Part of the commitment to this one year program is to be smoke-free.

Can I see a doctor while in the program?

Of course. All health care visits including doctors, dentists and optometrists, can be scheduled through the office by submitting permission slips. These appointments will be scheduled outside of program time and in consultation with the program directors. If you're coming from out of town we recommend that you bring a copy of your medical records and provincial health care card with you if possible. This will allow local doctors to continue your care without interruption.

can I bring my electronics?

Residents may bring device that access the internet to Wagner Hills so long as they agree to the following:

  • Accessing explicit content (e.g. pornography) is prohibited.
  • Accessing torrents or other means of obtaining pirated media or software is prohibited.
  • Devices must maintain installation of Covenant Eyes, an internet accountability tool that takes screenshots of the user's activity on the device (see covenanteyes.com for more information).
  • We charge $5.00/month to cover the use of Covenant Eyes, and access to the Wagner Hills internet connection.
  • While onsite at Wagner Hills residents may only use devices at their bunk. During personal trips offsite devices may be taken.
  • Devices must not be shared between residents.
  • Residents who struggle with addiction issues stemming from devices may request that their device be stored. Stored devices will not be accessible by residents at any time. If they wish to retrieve their device this must be done through the permission slip system and is at the discretion of leadership.

What should I bring with me?

Residents should bring items that will make them feel comfortable. They need about one week’s worth of clothes and clothes they can work on The Farm in. They should also bring personal hygiene items, a bible and any required medications. Smaller musical instruments such as guitars are allowed. We do not have space for larger instruments, furniture, animals or boxes of books or vehicles. The team at Wagner Hills will help residents source any items they need but do not have.
